A call with the MIG (MEMS INDUSTRY GROUP) brought me back to reality. How so? Because Karen Lightman, GM of the group and I are talking about the Globalpress Electronics Summit2010 already. But let me back up: I am telling clients to make sure not to spin negative - or like we in the US like to say - “challenging” news. So here is mine in case you haven’t heard it yet: For the first time in 17 years Globalpress had to cancel a tour due to lack of companies with news or budget! After wondering what I did wrong (too close to Summit, too close to Computex, not working hard enough???) I am done licking my wounds and move on as always -- just 10 months early. So now we are working on the Fall Tours, Europress, Oct. 19 – 23, Asiapress Nov. 30 – Dec 4) – I am grateful for the loyalty of companies like Intersil, Altera, Linear Technology, Gennum, QuickLogic, Fairchild who have Globalpress events already in their announcement schedules. The 8th Globalpress Electronics Summit, April 26 -2 9, 2010 is also scheduled and we are looking for keynote speakers already. The 2009 MEMS segment was so successful that we will continue to invite MEMS companies together with MEMS INDUSTRY GROUP. This what I call a true partnership. We have to start early with all projects to get on the announcement schedules of large or small companies reaching for global markets. What silver lining? The San Jose Mercury News reported chip sales rising for the first time in six months, with a feature on Weili Dai, cofounder of Marvell in the business section and best of all, the CFO of Atheros actually made some money off the stock market. This tells me there is a silver lining indeed and like anybody else – I am stretching myself to reach the lining as soon as possible.
Partnerships and Silver lining……
